WATU SUSU RONGGA ( WOMEN BREAST ROCKS ) :

Two rocks 15 meter height and 11 meter wide. The name comes from the shape of giant stones found in the area that looks like a woman’s breasts ( susu ).Around 4 kilometer from our Guesthouse.

You will have the chance to visit the old tombs of Tua Jawa Tu and their 20 stairs. These megalithic tombs are where the local heroes of the Rongga tribe and their relatives were buried during the Komba war. After passing those sites, you will  arrive at the two neatly shaped and positioned massive stones. The folklore explaining the history of the stones is quite bizarre. It says that long ago there was a big hole between Mt. Komba and the surrounding hills.

The ancestors then decided to plug the hole with two big stones.

During the process, there was a rule prohibiting people from talking and speaking foul language. Then, apparently there was a woman who was not aware of the prohibition; and, for an unknown reason, screamed at the top of her lungs and spoke of nasty things. Suddenly, some stones that were being carried from the coast toward the hole became unbelievably heavy and plunged into the earth. The story left many questions unanswered, but that’s all that was said. ( Markus Makmur )
